Trivia’s:
Today, I have something a bit different from the usual format. I’m excited to share three sports-themed trivia questions with you. Hope you enjoy them!
Rohan More and Prabhat Koli are the only two Indians to complete a certain challenge. The challenge was devised in 2008 as a swimming equivalent to a famous mountaineering challenge. The swimming challenge involves marathon swimming of some of the English Channel, Cook Straits, Moloka’i Channel, and four others.
The name of the challenge might remind you of a famous movie franchise, involving a series of daring heists.
What is the name of this marathon swimming challenge?
In the Nippon Professional Baseball League in Japan, 12 out of the 16 teams in 2018 partnered with a company called Hyozaemon, known for its traditional Japanese craft. This collaboration aimed not only to generate extra revenue for the teams but also to steer their "anger" towards an eco-friendly purpose.
The deal involved creating something uniquely tied to Japanese culture from an unexpected, but related, source of sports equipment.
What was the specific intent behind this partnership, which repurposes broken items from the game into something inherently Japanese?
In 2021, a new format of golf was started to make this traditionally slow sport more exciting. Many critics has dubbed this as “T20-isation of Golf” as it aims to shorten the time the sport takes.
Thus, the sport was aptly named LIV Golf, indicating a key numerical difference from the traditional format.
What differentiates this format from the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association) tournaments?

Fun Facts:
Ever noticed how so many flags around the world share the same colors? 🌍🔴⚪🔵 Turns out, 28 countries use the iconic red, white, and blue combo in their flags, making it the most popular color trio! But why these colors? 🤔
Well, back in the day, white was super easy to make thanks to bleaching, and both red and blue were long-lasting, durable dyes. This practical choice was centuries old! The Netherlands was actually the trendsetter here, introducing the first red, white, and blue tricolor flag in the 1600s! 🇳🇱 Their design was so influential that Russia and other Slavic nations followed suit in the 17th century, not to mention the British Empire.
But there’s more! These colors also hold deep meaning. Red stands for bravery and sacrifice, white symbolizes peace, and blue represents loyalty and perseverance. Isn’t it cool how something so simple can have such a rich history?
Sports anime and manga have had a huge impact on athletes and fans alike! Haikyuu!! helped revive volleyball in Japan, while Yuri on Ice was so influential that Japan's figure skating team performed to its music at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Captain Tsubasa boosted soccer’s popularity.
In basketball, Slam Dunk sparked the passion of players like Rui Hachimura and Yuta Watanabe. Even footballers like Ibrahima Konaté have celebrated with Attack on Titan poses, while stars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mason Mount channel Dragon Ball Z on the pitch.
Anime's impact on sports is undeniable!

Humayun's Tomb:
Today, I bring you a photograph of my favorite monument in Delhi—Humayun’s Tomb. If you haven’t visited it yet, you’re truly missing out! In my last edition, I talked about Safdarjung’s Tomb. If you missed it, here’s the link- click here
Did you know that Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi was the first garden-tomb in India, built in 1558 by his wife, Empress Bega Begum? It’s not just any tomb—it introduced the use of red sandstone on a grand scale and set the stage for Mughal architecture, inspiring the design of the Taj Mahal. The tomb complex also houses over 100 royal graves, including those of Dara Shikoh and several other Mughal emperors. Located near the famous Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya’s dargah, it even played a key role during the Indian Rebellion of 1857!
Humayun's Tomb has a fascinating history! After Humayun's death in 1556, his body was first buried at Delhi’s Purana Qila, then moved to Punjab, and finally brought back to Delhi. His wife, Empress Bega Begum, was so heartbroken that she dedicated her life to building the most magnificent mausoleum in his honor, spending 1.5 million rupees—completely from her own pocket. Built between 1565 and 1572 by Persian architects, the tomb introduced grand Mughal architecture to India with its massive red sandstone structure and Persian-style Charbagh gardens.
Over time, though, things took a downturn: by the 18th century, the gardens had turned into vegetable patches. During Partition in 1947, it even became a refugee camp, causing serious damage to the monument. But thanks to multiple restoration efforts, including Lord Curzon’s efforts in 1905 and a major project in 2003, the site was brought back to its former glory. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its gardens and fountains are once again as majestic as they were centuries ago!
Which is your favorite monument?
