Trivia’s:
1. Art:
X by Édouard Manet is one of the most iconic and controversial paintings of the 19th century. X depicts a nude woman, identified as a prostitute, staring directly at the viewer with a confrontational gaze. She is depicted with a nonchalant attitude, her hand covering her groin, and her other hand holding a bouquet of flowers. It was inspired by classical representations of the nude, particularly Titian's "Venus of Urbino" and Giorgione's "Sleeping Venus."
Critics were outraged by the painting's frank depiction of sexuality and the confrontational gaze of the subject. The servant delivering flowers represents the transactional nature of the relationship between the courtesan and her clients. When X was first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1865, it caused a scandal. Identify the painting.
