Fun Facts:
Why does Ramadan seem to play hide-and-seek with our calendars every year?
While our Gregorian calendar follows the sun's lead, the Islamic calendar follows the moon's rhythm. So, when the first crescent moon peeks out after the new moon, voila! A new Islamic month begins, and that includes our beloved Ramadan.
But here's the twist – because the lunar year is about 11 days shorter than the solar year, Ramadan likes to keep us on our toes by shifting about 11 days earlier each year in our Gregorian calendar. It's like Ramadan's own little time-traveling adventure!
CSK and Yellow!!!
CSK played for the first time in 2008 wearing yellow. They are the only team to have largely been in an unchanged jersey since the inception. But why yellow?
The owners did have some pressure to use Black, a prominent Dravidian colour, but stuck to Yellow as it is similar to the jerseys worn by the sides sponsored by India Cements in local Chennai tournaments. It also helps that all of India Cements’ core products are distributed in yellow bags. Lot of Chennai Super Kings branding is borrowed from the India Cements Stable - the crown in the logo is taken from the Coromandel King. In a unique twist, India Cements released a new cement product called Conkrete Super King (CSK) and is packed with the “power of 7”! Yellow has cemented CSK’s rise to the top.

Sitabuldi Fort:
Sitabuldi Fort, perched atop a hillock in Nagpur, Maharashtra, was not merely a battleground but a strategic stronghold. After the Battle of Sitabuldi, the British established their control, constructing the fort and surrounding structures. The Nagpur Subsidiary Force, stationed at Sitaburdi, included an arsenal, tent lines, parade grounds, and more, shaping the area into a military hub.
The decision to build a large arsenal in Nagpur, south of the Narmada River, highlighted its strategic importance for British forces in Central India. The clearing of surrounding areas and burning of structures post-battle emphasized military preparedness. Sitabuldi Fort held historical significance, serving as the resting place for British soldiers who perished in the battle and as the site of executions, including that of Nawab Kadar Ali and associates during the 1857 rebellion.
Moreover, while Sitabuldi Fort became known for Mahatma Gandhi's supposed imprisonment in 1923 (although he was actually in Yerwada at the time), it also hosted significant events such as an audience with King George V and Queen Mary of the United Kingdom, commemorated by a pillar within the fort. This blend of military history, rebellion, and colonial encounters makes Sitabuldi Fort not just a relic of the past but a living testament to the region's complex history.
