1. Geology
The International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) has systematically divided and named Earth's 4.6 billion years of existence into distinct slices of time, each corresponding to significant geological events. This temporal framework is categorized into eons, eras, periods, epochs, and ages, ranging from the longest to the shortest duration.
According to the IUGS, our current position in geological time is within the Phanerozoic Eon and Cenozoic Era, specifically in the Quaternary Period and Holocene Epoch. As of now, we are in the Holocene Epoch.
To which age do we currently belong to according to IUGS and why it is named so?
2. Entertainment
The Cannes Film Festival has appointed actor-filmmaker X as the jury president for its upcoming 77th edition. X will become the first female American director to take on the role of jury president at the prestigious film gala. The festival shared the news on calling X a "heroine of modern our times” who had shaken the “status quo.” The actor-filmmaker, who is currently receiving praise for her work on Y the film based on the iconic Mattel doll.
X will be the second female director to be jury president, after Jane Campion in 2014, and the second American woman after screen legend Olivia de Havilland, who was the first female jury president in 1965.

3. Biology
India’s first X disease patient, passed away at the age of 24 years after battling the disease in a semi-comatose state. A semi-comatose state is characterized by partial coma, manifesting as disorientation and stupor without reaching a complete coma. they may exhibit responsiveness to stimuli, such as groaning and mumbling.
X Disease (also known as Glycogen Storage Disease Type II) is characterized by the buildup of glycogen in the lysosomes of the body’s cells. This disease is a rare genetic disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme acid alpha-glucosidase (GAA).

Fun Facts:
Shortest war in the history was between Britain and Zanzibar for just 38 minutes. It was fought on a single Thursday morning (from 9:02 to 9:40, to be precise) on Aug. 27, 1896.
Iceland’s Rift valley, most part of which is hosted in the Thingvellir National Park, is an example of this ongoing geological drama. Visitors can walk along the crest of the Rift valley, literally standing on the boundary between two continents.
