Fun Facts:
Gundlupet – The Flowerpot of India!
Gundlupet, located in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district, is known as the "Flowerpot of India" for a good reason! Its vast sunflower fields and vibrant marigold farms create a breathtaking landscape when in full bloom.
But it’s not just about the beauty—these sunflower fields play a crucial role in India's economy too, as sunflower oil is a popular cooking oil across the country. So, Gundlupet’s golden blooms are both a feast for the eyes and a staple in kitchens!
The "Blue Lava" of Erta Ale Volcano
In Ethiopia, at the Erta Ale volcano, you can witness a rare phenomenon where the lava glows an eerie blue instead of the usual red or orange. But here's the twist—the lava itself isn’t actually blue!
The mesmerizing blue color comes from the burning of sulfuric gases emitted by the volcano. When these gases hit the air at scorching temperatures, they ignite and produce a brilliant blue flame. This creates the striking illusion of "blue lava," which is especially stunning at night, making Erta Ale a one-of-a-kind volcanic wonder!
Photograph of the Day:
The Ascent of Spirit and Nature
This scene reflects more than just a physical journey; it speaks to the deeper pilgrimage of the human spirit — the desire to connect with something greater, to move forward despite the challenges, and to find peace amidst nature’s vastness. A serene moment on the Tungnath temple trek, where pilgrims are making their way to one of the highest Shiva shrines in the world. The clouds hang thick and white, almost as if nature itself is guiding the travelers upward.
