Let's dive in…
Trivia’s:
1. Food:
X is a traditional British and Irish sponge or butter cake.
Despite common misconceptions, its origin is not from the X Islands. Instead, it is named after X wine, a Portuguese wine from the islands that was popular in England in the mid-1800s and frequently paired with the cake. Today, English X cake is commonly enjoyed with tea or liqueurs.
Identify X.
2. Current News:

3. Environment:
A new study has uncovered an extraordinary behaviour in Desertas Petrels, a rare seabird species in the North Atlantic.
Contrary to previous beliefs, these birds actively pursue tropical cyclones, exploiting the storms' dynamic conditions. Some birds were observed following cyclones for days, covering thousands of kilometers in the process.
The birds did not exhibit this behavior earlier because they recently have evolved adaptation to intensifying storm conditions and strategic utilization of large-scale wind patterns. What is the primary reason for this newly discovered behavior?
Fun Facts:
World Zoonoses Day, celebrated on July 6th, honors Louis Pasteur, who administered the first successful rabies vaccine in 1885.
Zoonoses are infectious diseases that can transfer between animals and humans, such as rabies, anthrax, and even COVID-19! Did you know that about 60% of all diseases are zoonotic, and 70% of emerging infections come from animals? India, with 11% of the world's livestock and 18% of its poultry, is the largest producer of milk and the second-largest producer of eggs globally! To keep both animals and humans safe, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) has launched nationwide vaccination campaigns for diseases like Brucella and rabies.
Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy has been chosen for the 2024 PEN Pinter Literary Prize for her courageous and unswerving writing.
This award recognizes her incisive commentary on issues ranging from environmental degradation to human rights abuses. She will receive the award at a ceremony in October in London, England, joining past recipients like Salman Rushdie, Margaret Atwood, and Tom Stoppard.

Sangam:
In the picture of Devprayag, nestled in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India, a breathtaking natural confluence occurs. Here, the waters of the Alaknanda River meet the Bhagirathi River, marking the beginning of the holy Ganges (Ganga).
Alaknanda River: The Alaknanda rises from the confluence and feet of the Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak glaciers in Uttarakhand, near the border with Tibet.
Bhagirathi River: The headwaters of the Bhagirathi are formed at Gaumukh, located at the foot of the Gangotri glacier and Khatling glaciers in the Garhwal Himalaya.
The confluence is known as the "Sangam," and it holds immense religious importance. The name Devprayag translates to "Godly Confluence" (Dev meaning 'God' and Prayag meaning 'confluence'). It is one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of the Alaknanda River, which are all significant pilgrimage sites in Hinduism.
The waters of the Alaknanda are typically clearer and have a slightly greenish hue due to the minerals from the glacier. The Bhagirathi, being fed by glaciers, has colder and bluer waters, carrying fine sediments from the high mountains.
Devprayag is home to several ancient temples, the most notable being the Raghunath Temple, dedicated to Lord Rama. The town celebrates various Hindu festivals with great fervor, including Makar Sankranti, where devotees gather to take a holy dip in the confluence.
Fun Fact:
Panch Prayag: Devprayag is one of the five sacred confluences along the Alaknanda River, the others being Vishnuprayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag, and Rudraprayag.
My geography teacher once shared this fact while teaching the chapter on river systems in India, and it became my favorite childhood fact. I never thought I would get the chance to visit this place and capture its beauty through photography while enjoying the Sangam!

Answers:
Enhanced foraging conditions.
The primary reason for this behavior is that the cyclones provide enhanced foraging conditions, with increased ocean mixing and productivity leading to greater prey abundance near the surface.
